The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to create an environment in which the rights or educators, learners, staff and parents are respected so that effective teaching and learning can take place at all levels. Learners who contravene the Code of Conduct must understand that they will face consequences as they have prevented others from learning.
We expect our students to: - Be courteous and well -mannered at all times. - Greet teachers and visitors. - Respect teachers, fellow students and the wider community. - Refrain from the use of foul language. - Not disrupt the routine of other learners. - Be punctual at all times. - Refrain from rough play and unruly behaviour. - Not bring GC Learning Academy into disrepute. - Not cheat in tests, exams or other work.
GC Learning Academy will not be held responsible for any theft of or damage to personal belonging on the school premises. To this end learners are discouraged from bringing large sums of money or valuables to the school premises.
In GC Learning Academy we strive to foster a culture of mutual respect and therefore do not tolerate: - Verbal Abuse - Racism - Religious Discrimination - Intimidation - Fighting and/or assault - Bullying in all forms including physical, verbal, social, cyber or emotional.
Vandalism will not be tolerated, this includes the defacing or damaging of GC Learning Academy's property and any private property. All vandalism will be for the account of the perpetrator.
Theft is a criminal offence, any student found to be involved in or an accomplice to theft will be disciplined. Any student involved in theft or the act of theft may be asked to leave, either temporarily or permanently.
Students accessing or in possession of uncensored pornographic material, including pornographic cartoons whether accessed through the internet or any other manner is unacceptable. Any student who is involved in the possession of uncensored pornographic material will face disciplinary actions.
GC Learning Academy does not believe that smoking, vaping or the consumption of alcohol are appropriate activities for students. If a student is caught being involved in these activities he or she will be immediately suspended.
GC Learning Academy will not tolerate any association with the use of drugs or narcotics. In order to keep the learners from doing drugs, random drug testing may be conducted. Any student found with drugs or narcotics will be immediately dismissed. Prosecution may follow the dismissal.
It is against our policy that students be in possession of dangerous weapons or toys that can cause bodily harm. Disciplinary action will follow any student found with such a weapon or toy.
During suspension the student accepts responsibility for any work missed. If a student is expelled there will be no refund of fees. The parent/guardian undertakes to pay the fees through to the end of the term.
All students are bound by the rules and regulations outlined in this code. GC Learning Academy reserves the right to discipline, suspend or dismiss a student at any time if their behaviour is in contravention of this Code of Conduct.
